Story

Milford M Logo

Embark on a journey with Milford Gin, where the rugged shores of Wales meet the natural beauty of New Zealand over every sip.

Milford Sound, famously known as the “Eighth Wonder of the World,” was originally named Milford Haven by Welsh explorer John Grono in 1812, in honour of the famed harbour in his homeland. This connection between two distant yet kindred coastlines inspire the very spirit of Milford Gin.

Rooted in the spirit of exploration and shaped by our founder’s own journey from Wales to New Zealand, Milford Gin is more than just gin. It embodies global heritage, cultural connection, and the bold pursuit of new horizons.

Our London Dry Gin unites Laver seaweed from the Welsh Pembrokeshire coast with native New Zealand Kawakawa, alongside traditionally selected botanicals, to craft a versatile, juniper-forward London Dry Gin that embodies place and provenance and pays tribute to timeless tradition.

As a brand that values culture and heritage, we would be remiss not to acknowledge that Milford Sound has a native name, known in Māori as Piopiotahi. This name is drawn from the legend of the demigod Māui. After his passing, a single piopio bird is said to have flown over the Sound to mourn him, giving the place its poetic name, Piopiotahi “one piopio.”

LONDON DRY

One shot distilled with eight carefully selected botanicals, perfectly steeped to create a balanced and versatile gin. Our truly traditional juniper forward London Dry Gin is crafted around a classic botanical foundation, with two subtle yet unique botanicals that reflect the landscapes and heritage behind its creation: Laver Seaweed, harvested from the Pembrokeshire coastline near Milford Haven in Wales, and Kawakawa, foraged from the natural landscapes of New Zealand. Used in very small quantities, these botanicals add a layer of background complexity and a sense of place, while allowing the bold, unmistakable character of juniper to remain at the heart of the spirit.

Botanicals:

Juniper, Coriander Seed, Angelica Root, Orris Root, Liquorice Root,

Almond, New Zealand Kawakawa & Welsh Laver Seaweed.

Taste:

Bold juniper at its core, layered with bright, delicate citrus and deep savoury complexity. A luxurious, creamy mouthfeel carries through to a smooth, lingering finish of exceptional richness and depth, delivering a refined, perfectly balanced, and versatile London Dry Gin.

PINK GIN

One-shot distilled with seven carefully selected botanicals, and the later post distillation addition of Mānuka Honey, creating a traditional pink gin with modern elegance. Built on a classic juniper foundation, this gin like our London Dry incorporates botanicals that reflect the landscapes and heritage behind its creation: Welsh Laver Seaweed, harvested from the Pembrokeshire coastline near Milford Haven in Wales, complemented by Maungatapere Raspberry and Waitematā Mānuka Honey, sourced from local family-run producers in New Zealand. Used with restraint, the raspberry provides a delicate berry lift, while just five grams of premium 83+ MGO Mānuka Honey per bottle introduces a subtle floral sweetness and depth without becoming another sweet, fruit-driven gin.

Botanicals:

Juniper, Coriander Seed, Orris Root, Liquorice Root, Almond, Welsh Laver Seaweed, Maungatapere Raspberry & Waitematā Mānuka Honey.

Taste:

Delicate juniper at its core, layered with honeyed citrus, subtle raspberry, and a gentle sweet-savoury complexity. A rich, creamy mouthfeel carries through to an elegant finish, where subtle floral Mānuka sweetness and delicate berry notes linger with refined balance and depth. A versatile pink gin with the sophistication and structure of a classic dry gin with a contemporary touch.
